It is with a heavy heart that we must inform all our friends and supporters of RNBT that our Vice Patron, John Thompson MBE BEM, sadly passed away on Sunday 14 November.
John was associated with the Trust since October 1985 and was Vice President and Honorary Treasurer from 1994 to 2009. He was a key contributor in the transformation of the Royal Naval School of Motoring and James Lane House on Tipner Road into Castaway House, RNBT’s Headquarters since 1991, and he personally researched and wrote the Trust’s history. Liked by everyone with his friendly approachable manner, he was man of commitment, compassion and a consummate charity professional.
John played a huge part in making the Trust the modern naval benevolent charity that it is today, and he will be hugely missed by all.
