Chef – Pembroke House
Pembroke House is a purpose-built care home for veterans of the Royal Navy and Royal Marines in Gillingham, Kent that was converted from an orphanage in 1952. We have been serving Royal Navy and Royal Marines veterans and their dependants for 70 years. Our residents and staff enjoy a varied yet familiar way of life to encourage independence and give each day meaning and purpose. It has a ‘family-run’ feel and we have carefully created a supportive, friendly and close-knit team making it a unique and very special place to work.
The Job Role
We are now recruiting for a chef to join the kitchen staff at Pembroke House. Reporting to the Head Chef, this role provides healthy and nutritional meals to our residents ensuring they follow a balanced and personal related diet.
Key responsibilities will include but not be limited to:
- Qualified in a catering or cooking discipline, to a minimum NVQ level 2
- Food Hygiene Certificate
- Experience of cooking and catering for 50+ persons
- Experience of stock control
- Well organised with high standards of hygiene and cleanliness
- Basic computer skills

The Person
This role would suit a highly organised individual who has experience in catering for a large number of people. Someone who is innovative and creative with food. An Armed Forces background would be beneficial but is not essential.
