Help us to provide another one hundred years of care

The Centenary Care Home Project

A superb new care home for naval veterans in Portsmouth.

RNBT is proud to announce our Centenary project to build a new Care and Nursing home of 66 beds in Portsmouth, including dedicated dementia care. The Trust already runs a Care Home in Gillingham, Kent, Pembroke House but has concluded that the needs of naval veterans in the Portsmouth area mean that a naval Care Home should be built here.

Another hundred years of care

The Trust is passionate about celebrating its centenary by reinforcing support for the naval veteran community, and plans to build a brand new, state-of-the art care home in a location where it is most needed – in Portsmouth, the Home of the Royal Navy – with facilities to support those living with dementia, all within a caring environment which reinforces the camaraderie and shared experience of a life of service in the Royal Navy and Royal Marines as an enduring legacy of support for our naval veterans.

RNBT has entered into a partnership with a national developer, LNT Care Development, who has already bought a site in Portsmouth, and a formal planning application to Portsmouth City Council has been made.

Fundraising target

Although over 60% of the cost has already been met, very substantial funding support is needed to complete the project. A fundraising target of £5m has been set, and a number of military charities and organisations have been approached. Donations made from this page will be allocated specifically to the Centenary Care Home Project, so your donation will be very welcome!

Work for us - opportunities coming soon

The Royal Naval Benevolent Trust is a caring organisation which is a pleasure to work for. If you are seeking a rewarding role in the Adult Care sector for an organisation that cares as much for its staff as it does for its beneficiaries, then look no further.

A very wide range of opportunities will be created at our new Care Home in Portsmouth. In particular we will be offering opportunities for registered nurses, health care assistants, maintenance, catering and domestic staff, as well as some management and administration roles.

We will be posting more details early next year, but in the meantime if you would like to send us your details we will keep you informed. Please use the following form to register your interest.
